Statement
Photography is a way to inhabit the world. I do photography to establish a relationship with the world and the people around. Creating images is a power that humans have. I use that power to give the world another meaning for me and for the people who look at my work. I use my camera as a witness who documents a poetic action that takes place in a concrete space and time.
I create pictures inside my head. I Search for different camera angles; I change scenarios and characters in my mind. When I have a clear idea, I draw it on a paper. Then I use that sketch as a map to get to the image desired. What I do is relating a character with objects that I sometimes built up. For instance, a heart made out of yarn, a house made with Styrofoam and painted to make it look like a stone. My photos end up being human figures interacting with objects in specific places. A man placing his head over a desk feeling desperate for having too much work to get done and, another one opening his shirt to show a bird on his chest, those are some examples of my work.
Part of the reason why I create photographic images is because it gives me pleasure. I create these images wishing people can find emotions and metaphors that illuminate dark corners of themselves. I also expect my photos may impulse people to take positive actions to others.
